Due to huge amount of data (videos) I had to split out one site from the rest that shared the same instance og eZ into it's own instance. Actually I just copied the entire instance, re-configured it and deleted via the admin-interface on both instances what should not be there any more.

That worked fine, except for one thing. The files in the storage area still remains. Yes, all instances shared the same storage-area due to transparency of content.

Question is, how do I get rid of the files in the two instances that no longer are active in the database?

Could you elaborate a little?

As I understand it: You have deleted a whole lot of content objects, but the binary files (in this case videos) havn't been deleted from the storage directory?

If this is the case:

1. Have you 'Cleared the Trash' in the admin interface? Objects are held there after they are deleted.
2. Have you checked the permissions on the storage directory? Apache must be able to write - perhaps the perms got mucked up in the transfer and it can't delete those files.

Let me know.

Yes, the cache has been cleared. The videofiles (deleted) resides in var/storage/video - yes, as I mentioned vi use the same cache/storage-dirs for all sites due to transparancy of content between the sites.

And yes, Mr. www has full control over the whole WEB-tree :-)

I could delete the videos manually. Luckily the site splitted out is the only one that has videos, but this is a general problem I think. Ex images or audiofiles (which all my sites has).

Therefore: The one that comes up with a solution that compares the database against the storage on disk and in some form either removes or makes a list or something, he/her will be made king/queen the next time the opportuinty comes along :-)
