Hi

I'm about to publish a bunch of features to the lucene based extension (search plugin). Some of the features are related to lucene but are quite different (like image search by example), others are brought in for performance (like object caching on the Java side).

My point is that I want a new name for this extension with a meaning in the realm of wisdom, knowledge, searching and after a few hours googling I only have the following;

- gefjun ( see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gefjun ) as it is a goddess from Norwegian mythology and meaning virtue and "marriage" (think Java/PHP connected) in Norwegian (according to wikipedia at least)

Do you have better ideas? I prefer female related names and some scandinavian connection ;-)

I would say Freyja : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freyja

I looked at Freyja too: "goddess of love, sex, war, beauty, prophecies and attraction" sounds great, also have a niece with that name.

In the meantime an acronym-name came up as well: <b>Lise</b> which stands for <b>L</b>ucene based <b>I</b>ndexing and <b>S</b>earch <b>E</b>xtension. But Lise is not a goddess. And maybe a bit boring as well? Should I care for the name in fetch functions?

Like

{$def $knowledge_items=fetch( 'lise', 'lexical', hash( 'phrase', 'Give me all documents that describe tales with Norwegian goddesses in the 17th century',
'filter', array( 'classes', array( 'include', array( 'book', 'article', 'poem') ) ) ) ) }

or

{$def $images_as_attr_objects=fetch( 'freyja', 'similar_images', hash( 'image', $uploaded_image,
'sort_by', array('weights', array($colorHistogramWeight,$textureWeight)), 'ignore_duplicates', false() ) ) }

I'm going to let it rest for a while, more suggestions or comments are welcome of course ;-)

While this is neither female or mythical, it was the first thing that came to mind.

Vger (from Star Trek) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vger

Vger - <i>Voyager 6 was discovered by sentient mechanical life forms, who, assuming it was an artificial intelligence like themselves, "repaired" it and constructed an enormous ship (the cloud) so that it could complete the mission imbedded in its memory banks: <b>Learn all that is learnable.</b></i>

I am a nerd! Sorry.

Hey,

My suggestion is Ophidian which of course all of you know is the greatest blue magic* card represent wisdom of magic.

*) Magic: The gathering

My second suggestion must be "Chocski" of the first eZ conference ;)
