Trouble with urls

Let me start by specifying what I've done so far. I am a long time ez publish user and I started my own personal project with it that only myself and my family uses. So what I have recently done is put my project online. Right now I have eZ Publish 4.4 on a shared host (linux and php5.x options) with Godaddy (No scoffing, this is not a high volume high traffic site. I can get by on the ultra cheap).

I tried to do some research to see if I can have a virtual host setup as to not include the index file in the url. I'm not sure I found the right answer, but as far as I can tell, its not possible. No bother, I'm using the .htaccess file.

The problem is, when I log onto the site there is the question mark in the url like this www.test.com/index.php?/manage. I'm used to seeing the url without the question mark www.test.com/index.php/manage.

Is there something I need to include in the .htaccess file in order to remove the question mark? On my local computer I have everything set up the same and don't get the ?.

Also, yes, technically if I include the ? my site works fine. So this is not really an issue, I just don't like seeing it there.

Thanks,

-erik

UPDATE:

This is actually causing an issue. The subitems view on the admin side only shows 'Data Error'. So this is hampering the admin side.

Search for "fastcgi" in the forum for the long answer and workarounds, short answer: It's fixed in 4.5.
