Porting PHPbb with eZpublish

This question and similar questions frequently pop up but since I'm new to PHP I feel that a lot of time (sweat and blood, really) could be saved if you could initially help me by answering these two questions:

1) Is it possible?
In my humble, non-programming mind, I would like to configure PHPbb authentication system so it uses "eZ_authentication" - and - "user_table" instead of its own user-table. That is, I don't want to create two identical user-tables, so somehow I need to redirect all "user-queries" in phpBB to the eZpublish user-table.

2) Is it a good idea?
Since I don't have any PHP knowledge nor the intention of learning enough to the point where I can write my own modules I wonder if this alternative path of porting a finished forum to the eZ world is worthwhile pursuing or is the solution (assuming there is one) non-sustainable (future changes will make the system unstable)?

Hi Mikael,

I was thinking the same thing and started this topic while ago:

I have started to try integrating these systems together, and will inform when/if this project will work...

Hi Mikael,

Regarding whether it's a good idea or not: Have you tried installing the forum site that comes with ezP 3.2? My thought is that if the eZ forum can fill your needs, or at least after some basic modifications, this would be the way to go. I was also looking to integrate phpBB with ezP at one point, but today, I think I'd rather build something else in ezP as it would be much more flexible.

Just my 2 cents.
