Per directory security

Hi All,

I may be confused here. Is it possible to set security on a single directory within a site. Meaning for most of the site I want people to be able to browse freely. But in the Partners section I want that to be password protected.

I have tried changing the Anonymous Users role but it won't let me "allow limited" when I select 'section'.

Is this possable?

Thanks

Glenn

Hi Glenn,

this is possible via the role system using the subtree method.
Just create a new role say "editor" and add a new rules say content/read. "Then select allow limited" until you see the subtree selection box.
You can also set secuirty on a single node. Its all there, take a look and test it out, it takes a little time to get it right and secure. But you will be ok :)

Tony,

Thanks for the info. I can't see a way to take access away from a user/role, only give access (read). Is there a way to say no access on a certain section or directory. Maybe I am not understanding you correctly, so maybe an example would work better.

My Site:
Root Folder
-Products
-Services
-About
-Partners

Now I want any person who browses to be able to view all pages in the Products, Services and About folders. But only users who have a login and actually login can view the contents of the Partners folder.

Is it possible to give me an outline of how this would be done?

Thanks a million

Glenn

Also where/how do I tell ezp to put up a dialog box to login through on these pages?

And I assume users that browse to my site without logging in are of Anonymous, is this correct?
