One translation not displaying default objects

Hi,

I have a site with several translations. One of these translations (the german one) does not show the objects of the site unless they are specifically translated into german, as apposed to the other translations which show the "default" object if it has not been translated.

What could be causing this? I've compared the site.ini.append.php in the siteaccess of the translation to the other translations, and I can't seem to find any significant differences.

Thanks in advance !

Sincerely,

Hmm,

This sounds a bit strange - can you doublecheck please? Might be a bug, in that case: report it! By the way: which version are you running?

Hi Balazs,

What exactly do you want me to double-check?

I'm running v. 3.4.0.

I see this too. Im going to dig a little further to try to get more info.

What is clear is if i try to view a page in german which 'defaults' correctly for all other languages, with english as the default, i get a kernel error (I think) 'Objekt ist nicht verfügbar'

Hi Paul,

The same is the case with me. I think this is due to ezP looking for a german version of the main node (node id 2), because when I translate it to german, the main page appears fine.

Hmmm, puzzling. Our objects are translated into German, including the root node.

Eirik,

Do all nodes/objects underneath default to the base language in the german view now?

What do you mean? When are they translated into German?

I don't understand the question.

Hi Eirik,

I think i've found the problem and it involves db corruption :(

When a new object is created the table ezcontentobect_name gets an entry for the content_translation as 'ger-DE@euro' not 'ger-DE'. When you edit the object in german it gets set correctly. But not when the object is first created i think.

This is why, i believe, other objects without the german translation dont show. The sql query cannot match 'ger-DE' to 'ger-DE@euro'.

Looking at the files in 'share/locale' i see 'ger-DE@euro.ini' before 'ger-DE.ini'. Is the file matching routine picking the first one it finds? I cant find any mention of 'euro' in my own files that might cause this...

Hi Paul,

That sounds about right. Editing the content_translation file for one of the rows in ezcontentobject_name, causes the related object to appear.

I too have no mention of 'ger-DE@euro' that I could find.

Think i've fixed it. It looks to be initially caused by a user error when setting up translations.

Have a read of the bug report for more.

But, the system shouldnt have behaved as it did.

Thanks a lot, Paul! I did what you suggested, and now the german translation work as supposed to.
