How to insert a file for direct download?

Unfortunately I only get redirected to a page where I can download the file. How can I achieve to have direct the link to the file inserted? Thanks Chris

A little tricky though for first time users (such as me) as they want to make a link to the object and specify the link text and don't think of inserting an actual object. But still curious: Is there a way of changing the link tag output to achieve the wanted effect? Thanks Chris
