Not sure if piwik is better than GA - but it is improving fast, for sure. The default install is very simple: just add at the bottom of your pagelayout template the piwik js bug (api docs available here: http://piwik.org/docs/javascript-tracking/), and install piwik on a separate vhost or subdir of your webserver. There is a nice API in Piwik for recovering the analytics data, so building an analytics dashboard for use within the eZP Admin Interface is also doable. There is an "ezpiwik" projects on projects.ez.no declaring to do that, but it has uploaded neither code nor tarballs yet...
