Creating a content class that contains multiple items (but not objects)

What I am looking for is similar to what the ezmatrix datatype does but with more features. Lets say this is going to be used for creating a list of items (rows) with item number, name and address with the address field being a text block. What is also needed is the ability to sort items. All this can be achieved by having each of these name/address rows as content objects themselves but then we would end up hundreds of 'address' objects. Is there a 'container' object anyone has used/created that can handle this scenario? thanks.
