Not currently, but you could write an extension to hock into an instant messaging engine. Possibly Jabber?

For a really dirty and simple solution: http://www.freejavachat.com/
Choose setup, customise your chat-page, register the channel with your nick on their chat network.
Copy and paste the generated html-code to a template that you use to override your preferred node, for example.
You could of course use any other java chat applet (google) and use the same method! :)
