upload and link to files

I'm using eZ 3.1-1 on a redhat 7.2 system

I'm trying to make a "document" folder, displaying uploaded files (doc, pdf, xls +++++ (read: any type of computer file))

My first problem is that I'm only able to uplad either pictures or text. the "binary file" type only allows me to upload text files.

is there any docs on the web I haven't found yet? Any hints/tricks on how to fix this?

Did you use the ezp installer? It looks like a mime-type problem to me.
