Newbie question - site hierachy

Being just new to eZpublish, there's a (very) basic question I haven't yet worked out or found directly answered in the manual. (Perhaps because it's so obvious.) Say on my site I install into a folder "ez" and use the site wizard to setup the initial account/user site "bob" (and admin site "bob_admin"). The urls I thus end up with are

http://www.mysite.com/ez/index.php?/bob/ ["user site"]
http://www.mysite.com/ez/index.php?/bob_admin/ ["admin site"]

So my question is about eZpublish's approach or philosophy - is the user site (1) the site I have created, or is it (2) a user folder within the site http://www.mysite.com/ez/index.php ? As I'm looking to create a personal/professional site, if it's the second, it makes little sense to create everything in my user folder as I will be the only user. As a corrollary to question, how are people cleaning up URLs on their sites. By using mod_rewrite to snip out the ez/index.php?/bob/ part?

(1) is correct, and yes people use mod_rewrite. Look for "virtual host setup" in the documentation. Happy hacking :)

Bingo - thanks for that. I came into exPublish thinking it was (2) and thus my confusion.
