Changing layout without overriding pagelayout

Hi,

I am trying to mirror parts of my site (articles) for Avantgo users (pda friendly layout).

I have made a separate section called Avantgo, and I intendt to make already existing articles appear here as well, but with different formatting.

What is the best way of removing menus and toolboxes for this part of the site only? Is the only way to override the pagelayout (can this be done?)

If there is a simpler way, I would appreciate seeing how this would be done!
