Hi John,
You will find the templates for the menu in the templates/menu dir under the design for your site.If you don't have this directory in your particular design, then EZP is fetching the templates from either standard or base designs, just copy the templates you need to your design dir in order to be able to override the standard ones and be able to modify them.
Hope it helps,

John,
Check the menu.ini.append on your siteaccess, you can control a great deal of what happens with the menus from there. I'm not sure about what you're trying to do, but you could for instance have the left menu only show "folder" class items, for instance, just by changing the settings in the menu.iniAlso, you will find what templates are in use for the left menu there
If that doesn't help, let me know what you're trying to do, I'll be glad to help
