Template directory structure

I am currently trying to understand the directory structure under /design. One thing I have come across and don't understand is why _all_ content object, class _and_ node override templates of the demo site are found in

/design/user/override/template/node/view

while none are in

/design/user/override/template/content/view

or

/design/user/override/template/class/view

or similar folders.

Any insights on that?
