Setting up without MySQL root access

For eZ publish 3.7.5, in the MySQL database section of the setup installer, you are instructed to provide the database information for a MySQL root user so that the installer can create databases for each site. I have a shared hosting account without SSH access and no MySQL root access where there is no possibility of gaining root access to the MySQL server. I have also attempted to use the manual installation methods to set up my eZ publish site.

When I used the manual setup, the administration interface continued to say that
"The requested page could not be displayed. (3)
The requested object is not available.
Possible reasons:
* The ID number of the object is incorrect. Please check the URL for spelling mistakes.
* The object is no longer available."

I can do nothing on my site!

Can anybody help me install eZ publish 3.7.5 on a Linux server, PHP version 4.4.1, MySQL version 4.1.18-standard, and Apache 1.3.34 (Unix)?

I had no problem at all installing 3.7.4 on a shared hosting account. I just entered my user/password for MySQL and later got to chose which DB (of the ones I had access to) should be used.

Did you try just simply entering your "normal" priviledged user?

However: PHP 4.4.1 was a horribly broken release (4.4.0 and 4.4.2 are ok) and maybe you're having trouble with that, really.
