I'm trying to enable searching of binary files (specifically PDFs) on eZ 4.2 without using eZ Find, just the standard eZ Publish search. Is there any up-to-date documentation on this? How can I debug?
In settings/override/binaryfile.ini.append.php I have:
[BinaryFileHandlerSettings]LogFile=var/log/index.log
but I don't see index.log created in var/log. So I can't even see what's going wrong?
Any ideas?

Use http://projects.ez.no/eztika for indexing binary files. You will need java though.

I wrote an article a while back on binary file indexing using the built-in eZ Find engine: http://share.ez.no/articles/ez-publish/indexing-multiple-binary-file-types

+1 just installed it today and it's really straightforward. Installed and running in less than 30min that's cool :)

My webserver doesn't support Java :-(, otherwise eztika would be an option. But I found help towards a solution at:
