I think we stumpled upon the following problem:

On a Win2k3 machine, eZ needs almost half a second for things which run in 0,0x seconds on a Linux machine.
Are there any new infos on how to speed up Win2k3? Any hints to speed up the whole thing a bit?
We are already using FastCGI but suffer from the crashing php-cgi.exe mentioned in the last post at http://forum.lighttpd.net/topic/1164 . But that's another story...

* Try testing out Windows Server 2008:http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/audsel.mspx
* Experiment with Fascgi and IIS, its supported by Microsoft: http://www.iis.net/default.aspx?tabid=1000051(But iis does not have mod_rewrite support out of the box)

I already tweaked the NTFS settings (Disable8Dot3NameCreation, NtfsDisableLastAccessTime) without a noticeable improvement in performance.
Since we have to test a site on the same system our customer will run it, we have to choice but to use Win2k3.
And finally I'd prefer to do without any Microsoftware when it comes to serving sites. So Lighty should stay. There has to be another way.

Yes, Linux or even Solaris :)If they want to pay there are several Linux distros that lets you (SUSE, RedHat and so on..).
On the other hand, what eZ Publish version are you using?
