First check that you accept cookies in your browser, the session management in eZ publish needs cookies.

Also read this post:
http://www.ez.no/community/forum/install_configuration/breakthrough_that_widespread_not_beyond_the_opening_screen_problem

If you're running PHP in CGI mode you should try to set cgi.fix_pathinfo=1 in php.ini.

hello
Some one suggested that cookie issue. I have set the browser to allow all cookies but nothing is happening. I have also noticed that when I try to login, the user information table on the user site says that there is one registered user and so much anonymous users. I'm using my desktop / localhost not on a hosted server. help plz, thank u.

Hi Tate,

I think your problem is on of siteaccess.

Can you let me know what your [SiteAccessSettings] section is in site.ini.append.php. Please clean of any site/personal information first...

Hi,

The one I am looking for is the overrive site.ini.append.php. I am thinking the problem is caused by eZ not knowing the right url for admin..

have you tried /news_admin at the end of the url to see if this gets you to the admin screen?

Hi Tony
I'm able to get to the http://locahost/index.php/news_admin page. when I login the details don't seem to be posted for me to enter the admin site. what happens is that when I login, the login page does not move or give an error message. But when I try a different passowrd form the one I used when at set up, it gives an error message. So the problem to me seems like the code that takes u to the admin page is not working. Anyway I will try your suggestion and see if it works. when I view the news front end site, it says there is one registered user and so much anonymous users depending on how many links I click on the ezpublish news site. I also tried disabling the SiteAccessSettings and I was able to get to the admin page with out logging in but when I tried to click on the setup tap in the admin site it wouldn't work. I tried to login from the same page and it gave me a kernel error (01). Maybe there is no database connection, how do I check this???

Hi,

IA couple of things.

Can you turn on debug so you can see error messages.

Can you tell me what the error message is..

General problems:
1. db connection info no right
2. permissions on files wrong
3. siteaccess not setup so you never see the admin

>>No database connection
The system will tell you if this is the case

Is this a new site? have you thought about running the eZ setup just to get going?

Hello

There is no error message whatsoever when I enter the details ie username: admin and myownpassword. I'm thinking that maybe it's not the ezpublish bcoz the installation goes through without any problems. it's when I want to login at the admin login page that things stop.

Below is my post on the the site qouted.

--------------------------------------------------------------------www.forum.ezpub.co.uk-
Hello,

I hope you had a smashing weekend. I have been trying the ezpublish installation process the whole weekend and I'm stilling having the same problem. I have installed and uninstalled the ezpublish package 8 times and I'm still facing the same problem.

I have come to the conclusion that it might not be the ezpublish problem but something to do with my windows xp.

I have noticed that a pop window opens with a heading called autoComplete and it keeps saying: the password you are entering does not match the one stored in windows. Would u like to create a new one? Yes or No / Cancel as options. When I press login button, the admin page does not go away and there is no error message whatsoever but when I enter a wrong password then an error message comes up saying you have mispelled or enter the wrong password, basically this is the same error u would get if u enter a wrong password.

So I 'm thinking it might be the problem with windows not recognising the password entered during setup and when trying to login. How I resolve that if that's the issue I don't know. I hope this helps in understanding my problem and in trying to find the solution.

Just in case it's not clear to everyone else . . .

"Tate Wami" is posting back and forth between
ez.no forums and the eZ Pub Forum at this thread as "lk":

So if you want some more background on the issue & debug
solutions already attempted to be addressed without success
checkout the eZ Pub Forum Thread.

We really would like to find a solution for this user,
so far our efforts have not yielded results . . .

Tate,

What version of eZ are you using? 3.4.1?

At the end of the setup for eZ you should have been presented with a user screen that asked for your name, userid and password.
This is the password you will need to login. So if you entered "publish" as a password then this is what you should put into your browser when you go to login.

I would also overwrite the password set by "autocomplete" as it may not be the right one.

One request; if you are going to post on two forums pleaseclet me know by posting the feedback onto this forum the responses,. this will enable me to help.

How do I do this tony?

The password I'm using is the same one I entered during setup. Does anyone know how to clear the cache, maybe that could be the problem?

How do I do this tony?

This is done using options in the IE browser.. Sometimes a browser can store the wrong password. You just need to enter the correct one.

>>Clear cache
to clear cache you need to run this from the command line or admin. But as you cannot get into admin you need to run from the command line.
cleara-cache --clear-all

More information about clearcache here: http://ez.no/ez_publish/documentation/development/scripting/supplied_scripts/template_compiler

hello again Tony,

What is the step by step way of clearing the cache. What is command line? is it the same as command prompt?

I have very basic knowledge with ezpublish so plz forgive me for asking such probably basic questions.

Hi,

Yes the command line and command prompt are the same.

Within linux you need /bin/shell/clearcache --clear-all

under windows it should be /bin/win32/clearcache --clear-all or similar

Unfortunately I use Linux and so cannot test this on a windows box. Maybe a windows eZ developer could step in here.
