I have been working on a website using ezp 2. I would like to upgrade it to ezp 3 now, but when I run database_update.sql it fails immediately as the first table mentioned doesn't exist in ezp 2. Are there some instructions for upgrading from ezp 2 please?

Just so you now it. ezpublish 3 isn't stable or in final release yet, just a bad RC2. You most likely will have a lot of problems with it, like I have. Im now starting developing on the last stable version 2.x.

How about it guys? I am working really hard to persuade my company to take up a CMS solution, ezp in particular, but I need some help :)

Hi,

as the system is so different, I doubt that therer will be a real upgrade script. I heard that there may be some kind of database conversion utility (in the future) but you will definitely have to convert the templates manually.

I now have alarm bells ringing! The main reason I managed to persuade my company that a CMS was superior to a static web site was that the data (articles) and presentation were seperate, and the data would be able to be used without having to be re-entered whenever the presentation/look/feel etc was altered. I have got people to spend several weeks of work contributing articles to version 2 of ezpublish. If I won't be able to move these articles to ezpublish 3 and future versions easily, then the project will end up scrapped and, at the very least, I will be unpopular! Please tell me I can get the articles into version 3 - I can live with re-doing the templates.

We will make a 2.2 to 3.0 migration package. This will export/import data from 2.2 to 3.0. All data that is compatible with 3.0 will be exported. E.g. articles, products, forum, links, images, users.

This is not yet finished, but it will come.

Thankyou - this is a big relief to me! I can now happily continue developing my site in ezp 2 knowing the effort isnt wasted :)
