Hi,

I have access to a UNIX server but I do not have access to telnet/SSH..Is there a way to untar/unzip on the server without telnet access? Maybe something in my Cpanel, but I can't find it, but SSH is blocked.

The reason why I do not like to unzip it on my computer and then upload the files is that it takes ages to upload all the small files because it check them and checks them, kind of - one big file is much better for speed. I am using Filezilla for my FTP access..

Or what is the fastest way to get the files online? Using broadband but abouisly not fast enough!

Thanks!

So gtreetings from NYC.

Filezilla might just not make it. I must check. But each of several FTP progs I have used incl the higher level freebies.will "untar".

I'm using CuteFTP now, recommended by the guys at my hoster. Something awesome. I would not want to manage EZP without it.

Does online editing. Not free but a dowload deal somewhere via "discount coupon".

PS I would be surprised if Filexzilla cannot unpack online. I don't wanto load it, but is there nothing in Help? Nothing via right-click? In CuteFTP its via Tools>Compression>Decompress.

Okay I succumbed...!! I'm looking at Filezilla.

Its sure not at the level of CuteFTP, and no menu item for unpacking.

But if you hit Control-F you can enter the command line command described on this page to do the unpacking.

Oh,great guys! I never thought that I could untar via my FTPer..Thought that I had to have deep excess to the server via telnet or something...

I'll check that when I get my dev.computer running...I am in the 'format C:' state after the traditional year of messing up the computer!

Thanks!!
