we will be working on a chat module porting for eZp 3! is there any work from the eZp crew already done in this direction? any suggestions? which chat package to port? what about irc instead?thanks in advance!

I don't think it is a good idea to include a ez modul (php) for chatting. That modul will definitly kill your server. You will need to find a way to exclude most of the moduls ez uses. Maybe a way over flash 6 and SOAP would be a nive way to do that.
