Hello,
I would very much like to use this product for my corporate intranet. As a matter of fact, the flash demo looks like it has the exact functionality we need!

First, I am trying to install on DreamHost. They give you the option of setting up your site to run as CGI or as an Apache module. It looks like I have problems either way and one seems to be a "showstopper". I have included the following email/reply from my host:

-----------------
ME: The pre-install script found some system issues that I need to resolve before installing. I will list the 3 things it found brifly here:
1)open_basedir is in use
MY HOST: This will only work if you're running PHP as a CGI application.

ME: 2)allow_url_fopen ini setting is disabled (I read your wiki and these seems like something I need your support for)
MY HOST: There is no way around this. We do not allow remote access of URLs through PHP, you must edit your code to make use of CURL.

ME: 3)AcceptPathInfo disabled or running in CGI mode (I changed the domain to run as apache module to try to resolve this - it didn't)
MY HOST: This can only be run in CGI mode on our servers.

ME: 4)The PHP upload directory /tmp is not writeable.
MY HOST: This problem has been fixed, there was a permission error problem.
----------------

So my questions: is modifying my code to use CURL very involved? Is it worth it? I am more than happy to just use another host. Who knows of a good host that has everything one needs to run this CMS (with WebDAV)?

Thanks!

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for interesting eZ publish. Regarding to your question, modifying original eZ publish files is not a recommend way. It is difficult to maintain website and doing future upgrades (you need to take care about patches), also you need to do additional tests and check if everything works properly.

I suggest to take a look at the offer of eZ systems hosting partners:
