After Install - ezPublisher never loads

I have just installed ez 3.1-1 on a linux mandrake 9.1 system - apache 1.3 and mysql. Install went fine - no errors - mysql databases created,etc. Trying to login in as admin with publish as userid - page loading message appears and never goes away. Page does not load. If i use an invalid id/password - I get the invalid login, but when I use the valid id/password - system just seems to loop. Any help would be appreciated. tia - tbullard
