When I attempt to put this line into a blog (Here is a <a href = "http://ez.no/">reference</a>.) I get an error message to the effect: Message: Tag 'link' must have attribute 'href' or valid 'id' (need fix);
When I try it without the tag, i.e., as a straight URL, I don't get an error message, but the URL is not automatically made clickable.
P.S. There is no ";" in the <a> tag text. Why does one show up when rendered?

Also, even though my posting does show up on the site's blog, the calendar doesn't reflect the new posting. It is still set to April even though the new post is July.

It's very disappointing that img and blockquote tags aren't allowed in weblog entries and articles!
I figured out the problem with the link tag. Spaces aren't allowed around the '=' sign.
