When trying to change the text in the "Short Description" field of any folders properties, the changes are not saved. It always reverts back to the prevoius text when saving or publishing the folder. We are running eZP version 3.8.6.

I suspect you may have been seeing this bug, or something related to it:

I noticed some very strange behaviour, including changes not being saved (completely silently failing) as a result of that bug. I suggest you try upgrading to the latest stable 3.8 subversion, and see if the bug still occurs there.
