Hello there,

One thing is driving me nut!
I incuded a small template in the frontpage.tpl ({include uri='design:content/tabs.tpl'}) of my home page and linked to a jquery script from the pagelayout.tpl (which is working - except that I get an error when loading the page saying "jQuery object is undefined" which yet I have to do through..).

After this change, all of a sudden, when loading the page from IE8 (not with the other browsers: Firefox, Safari, Opera..) the layout of the page comes all messed up (..images and divs' position). Oddly when I browse the other languages pages (eng, chi or any other siteaccess) those pages are just fine.

I was wondering if this has ever happend to any of you?! Why only the ita siteaccess gives me this problem when I did change common files without touching any of the siteaccess file or setup?

I spent hours trying to fix the mess but in vain! All the divs' opening and closing match.

It must be a silly thing, sure! But those are the most annoying ones!

have you got "debugging inline " or "show templates" turned on?

Try it with them turned off if so. EZ has many features like this.

Wasting time is common with EZ, and getting timely responses to low level issues like this is NOT common. I started to write a blog on my trials and tribulations with EZ, but it ended up being an entire wikki that is just too big to deal with. At least I have MOST of these things documented for future reference. If you are new, there is every chance that the problems you have, I have already dealt with. Theres more EVERY day.

If anyone out there can tell me why it takes 33 seconds to edit a page in the gui then I would love to know that one. Front end and now back-end as well. I cant see my users being very happy with that.

The inline debug thingy have been "fixed" in 4.4. It wasn't really an issue though, but it was fixed to not cause issues for people that don't know about Quirks mode and the fact that IE will turn it on if you have anything before your Doctype.

@cousin: Care to share that wiki? I'm very much interested in making eZ Publish more newbie frindly and not get in peoples way if you don't read all documentation & sometimes code for how it is used on the settings you change.

..Went through that as well which happened to be as silly as the previous "problem"!

It matters the order which I included the script in the pagelayout template:
1) the jquery-x.x.x.min.js file where the jquery is defined
2) the eZ design:page_head_script.tpl
3) the jquery-ui file.

Andre. When I get a chance I will put my wiki online. In my experience using the documentation for Ezpublish, is a bit like looking at the exploded diagram of the engine in a car manual in order to find out how to drive it. Not a lot of help. I am still trying to find the instructions on how to make a "Gallery". On a more positive note, last week we went live with our new EZpublish site, after two years of work, and it is going well. Editing is still appallingly slow, but the pages are coming up well under high load at times.
