i created a MEDIA class by copying the IMAGE class and changing everything that was IMAGE to MEDIA, and of course by changing the DATATYPE to MEDIA.
now i have only sound when playing FLASH movies, but there is no picture. later on i the created this MEDIA class from scratch.. again similar to the IMAGE class, i am still running into the same problem (there is sound, put there is no picture).
has anybody successfully created a MEDIA class? the MEDIA view and edit templates are coming with the standard install,..
i am thankful for any leads!!!

Are you sure you gave a reasonable size to your flash object?
I had a similar issue with a quicktime movie. The assumption that the object appears in its "native" size was wrong.

hmmm, i don't have width and height arguments in my MEDIA CLASS... maybe that's the reason it doesn't show properly.

Width and height are nor specified in the class, but when you create an object with this new class.
Checked with 3.0-2 and 3.1beta2

same here with me. i am currently using BETA1 of publish 3. well, i managed to playback a FLASH movie successfully. but had to enter some values for width and height during video upload (send for publishing) of the flash movie.
something strange happend: the "Media" field (into wich i can't input anything) takes on the "width" field value. in case of a 320x200 movie the "media" field automatically gets value "320".
maybe that's the reason why the playback of WMV video files doesn't work here with me, because the "Media" field has some wrong value and EZ3 takes the file as a flash movie (the default setting, i guess). the MIME type is detected successfully and corretly, though.
