Integrate products and a external shopping cart into EZ

Hi

I am wondering about making an webshop. However, the webshop requires me fetch products from an external SQL database. Viewing the docs it seems as that should not be a to large problem (http://www.ez.no/ez_publish/documentation/development/extensions/module/module_tutorial_part_1#msg47173). But I also need to place the orders (and shopping cart) within another external database. My initial though was to make a module which placed an "Buy" button on all products, and had an fetch function and functionality for viewing and editing the shopping cart while shopping. However, this would require me to integrate with EZ content action i belive? And I have seen few docs on that.

So I am just wondering if anyone has done anything similar and whereever it seems as a feasible road to go? Or should I look into integrating with the database by using SOAP?
