If i didn't hire the guy that left me high and dry, I don't forsee that I ever would have chosen this CMS.

Is there any reason why i shouldn't just switch to drupal?

Your asking, so ....

It might be a mater of grasping the available (provided) abstractions which can meet your needs or provide for you to change them to do so.

You have several personal reasons involved, muddied waters.

You tend to come off adverse to eZ, which communicates frustration and lack of understanding or experience.

I would suggest creating more documentation on your own requirements before continuing your implementation.

I would suggest creating a table of comparison which combined you needs and a check box per product.

Compare your needs against eZ and whomever, then in your mind you will know how eZ stacks up in your own mind (what else matters).

As a further exercise you might share this experience with another vendor as validation of your own conclusion through out the process, keep searching for the answers you want in life, there's usually a lot of room between each, people are usually surprised ...

Still, I'd say this alone would throw you into a time based response which is understandable, need but need is also driven by another set of factors, who can say what is right for one is right for another ...

While I would welcome another happy eZ user, I don't know what your really seeking ...

I just am asking what benefits EZ has over drupal. Drupal is much higher rated, it seems. It appears to be more customizable and user friendly. EZ seems to be very finicky with server environment and the community is virtually non existent, where the drupal forums are very busy.

Honestly I don't have much of choice, I have to improve the EZ site to as good as it can get without having to pay the EZ partners my entire life savings, but then I'm going to start on our new drupal site.

It is what it is ...

Before me, After me, And all around me. Rebuttaling with .... ....

* Request for someone else to compare eZ to another system (which won't tell you what you want to know but then you won't say what your looking for ..) so you can compare oranges to apples without a problem. I like oranges :)

> I just am asking what benefits EZ has over drupal.

* Claims of ratings and popularity. So simple to claim and ultimately no finality can be brought to the topic, ask a video toaster user who makes bank ... to this day.

> Drupal is much higher rated, it seems.

* Claims of opinion as fact. Bringing the conversation to understanding, experience and available feature comparisons.

> It appears to be more customizable and user friendly.

* Again, you complain about eZ when you know your environment is the problem

> EZ seems to be very finicky with server environment

* Again, when you state this you are both rude and ignorant. There is a very rich community growing all around eZ and we all work very hard.

You have no interest in anything you can not devalue, use and profit from without investing ... you play a risky game.

Now you are having trouble keeping your own head over the water, those who can help you ... you spurn.

Now while you shift your own responsibilities to those like me for another's decision or responsibility.

All the while you don't care to take the time to understand the science behind diving and decompression ...

It hurts to be ignorant minded either in price or not realizing the freedom available in learning the patience to achieve your goals.

The sheer amount of activity created by this little community could send your head spinning in directions, but your not really interested in community.

> and the community is virtually non existent, where the drupal forums are very busy.

* The reality of no responsibility, plan or commitment

It's not a surprise really, I knew it before you did but I didn't want to be the one to tell you how to reach your own final destination.

Think eZ and you just might see how it really seems to be when you consider slang and a bit of history

How much of a budget are you going to allocate for your time vs funding and the next developer you empower to do your will? Do you even care ...

Do you ever think during your endeavor of the milking cash out of nerds allergic to sunlight!

You close doors, you do not negotiate. Your closed not open. You offend others to manipulate them. You think of yourself when you act not of others. You would rather play a pawn than rise to the challenge to accept the responsibility you defer to another to solve a problem which you yourself could not and worse still you devalue them all while being obstinate.

> Honestly I don't have much of choice, I have to improve the EZ site to as good as it can get without having to pay the EZ partners my entire life savings, but then I'm going to start on our new drupal site.

It's not about choice ... move on in life and create your own success.

For everyone who is looking for some comparisment on a CMS check this site.
http://www.cmsmatrix.org

And the difference between Drupal and eZpublish...
Drupal is of Belgium origin and eZpublish Norwegian. However, one of THE most active members of the eZpublish community is from Belgium. I am dutch, from the south. Kind like a belgian speaking dutch instead of flemmish. ;-) ROFL.
Drupal is like riding a specially made Harley, Very very nice.
eZpublish is like driving a customized Harley. Very very nice.
You want a big hammer or a small hammer? Depends on the nail.

Drupal is already compatible with php v5. eZpublish? Well, a lot of guys and dolls are working on that issue...

By the way, I use both.
Or maybe you want to check out XOOPS, MMBase, Joomla, Mambo, Tridion, or one of the other trillion cms's on this planet.

kind regards,
Jaybee

Hi,

No reason not to switch to another CMS. All of them have things they do better than the others, all of them will be frustrating at time (ez included).

Use the one you know already, ez or drupal or joomla or typo or ... have all nice communities, they are all open sources.

Good luck in the migration if you move, good luck in your discovery process if you keep using ez.
