I am currently trying to know if it is technically possible to run eZ Find 2.0 with solr 1.4-dev-rev 814543 (servlet shipped with eZ Find 2.1) ... But I don't find any interesting stuff about this. The reason for this is an ezfind upgrade on different projects that can't be done simultaneously.

The aim is to avoid running 2 solr servlets on the same server (one for projects using eZ Find 2.0 / solr 1.4-customised, the other for projects upgraded to eZ Find 2.1 / solr 1.4-dev-rev 814543).

I thought about the step-by-step upgrade described below, but I don't know if it would be valid !

  • First, upgrade solr from 1.4-customised to 1.4-dev-rev 814543 (after this step, every websites would run eZ Find 2.0 with solr 1.4-dev-rev 814543)
  • Then, migrate website1 to ezfind 2.1
  • And, migrate website2 to ezfind 2.1
  • ...

Any idea ?

Hi Nicolas, and thank you for your reply.

Do you know if it exists any official way (guaranteed, documented) of doing this ?

NB: to post in the correct forum, I'll take a look at the left menu in the future, I promise. :)

There is no official/guaranteed/documented way of doing this in terms of support contracts, but have no fear, it works like a charm to use the eZ Find 2.1 Solr binaries with 2.0.

Actually, can you tell me what kind of customisations you did that hamper a drop in replacement of eZ Find 2.1?

The upgrade to eZ Find 2.2 will be a tad harder (you will need to re-index your sites as the Solr schema will have some changes and the way eZ Find will deal with facets vs searching)
