Introduction

On the upcoming conference I will present several extensions developed by Netgen to give eZ Publish more integration capabilities with social networks like Twitter and Facebook and also be more user friendly to end users. This would be kind of a quick summary of our efforts to have social flavored eZ (ngpush, ngcomments, ngopengraph, ngconnect, etc).

I am also looking forward to this talk !

A few short words to reply your question : on share.ez.no, we were using autostatus to push updates to Twitter. Since they disabled Basic Auth (autostatus not supporting it), we had to give it a quick fix and rely on twitterfeed.com to update Twitter. Moving back to ngpush for instance would make sense, supporting a potential opening to Facebook.

The other social features of this portal, encompassing forums, moderation, ratings, were not packaged & retrofitted yet to projects.ez.no. Time flies, but the envy remains !

Cheers and see you all in London next week !

Hey

For my website Metal France (http://www.metalfrance.net), I'm using social connect features through Janrain Engage. Gateway is provided by JanrainAuth extension ;).

For social publishing (Twitter and Facebook), I'm using TwitterFeed with my RSS feed.

So autostatus is not supporting OAuth yet? (http://projects.ez.no/autostatus/forum/general/oauth_support#msg29388)

Not yet no. We have not moved ahead on this project yet.

I used JanrainAuth extension, but I don't use it anymore because it doesn't trigger 'user activate trigger' and neither works very well with some of the supported login options (sometimes it register blank first/last name, so it register blank user object names).

But it's a really great extension, you just need to choose the login options that works and modify it to trigger that 'user activate trigger' if you need it.

I took a swift look at projects.ez.no to find some more extension, looking some fresh ones at least updated last time in 2010. Found few more:

http://projects.ez.no/xrowsocial

http://projects.ez.no/dappsocial

http://projects.ez.no/xrowforum

There are few important ones which are coming already with ez like: ezstarrating, ezcomments, etc

We use extension codenamed "sasocial"

It is not public yet but will be when we reach beta status. Sasocial is not just authentication helper  to various social networks or services, it is engine providing lot of social, real-time and personaliziation features to ezPublish... Real benefit of integrating social layer on corporate web or news portal shows as benefit only when we do present as content various interactions around the site That is what sasocial is all about...
