My proposals:

- day 1: a tutorial on optimizing the use of eZ Find and its backend Solr, covering: understanding the backend, text analysis during indexing and querying, tuning, use of special boosting and filtering functions, geographical searches, ...

- day 2: legacy talk: the archive system that is currently in development (and announced in Geneva during the international partner day)

Comments?

My proposal :

Advanced eZ Find development :

  • Understand the meta, attribute and subattributes fields semantic : the schema.xml file
  • Working with datatype mapping and context : search / facet / sort
  • Working with your custom datatype mapping : related object exemple
  • Working with your custom Solr field : name attribute exemple, date fields exemples
  • Projects use cases : how eZ Find could save your life !

Sounds very hands-on, this very good!
Were you thinking of this for the Hands-On day (tutorial like, where you could live-demo the audience, building something around these topics), or rather like a classical talk ?

Cheers, excellent topics, really,

@Nicolas :

I think about a classical talk : eZ Find concepts and professional usecases need slides and screenshots to be understandable. I cannot bring on my laptop all source codes exemples... and eZ Find need some boring CLI script calls :)

But, i build the talk like a tutorial, step by step, then i'll mail to you the first chapter and you could decide

My proposal : Industrializing eZ Publish development

I'd share my experience on working on a big eZ Publish project (~15/20 eZ Publish developers located in different agencies/countries, with a big database).

I don't really know which day suits better...

Good evening Jérôme,

That idea is excellent, sharing a real-life, long distance return on experience in industrializing eZ Publish. I think the second day, Conference Day, would be a better fit for this.

Cheers !

Hi,

What about recording talks as videos, to share them online, as webinars ?

Would be useful !

My suggestion:

eZFind & Solr: Solving every day tasks in web site development (experience from 3 use cases)

What benefits eZFind & Solr bring to web development? Extreme performance, excellent search results configurable in many ways, easy tuning, elevation, highlighting, geo distance search, faceting for drill down and suggest, more ways of sorting results, combining more indexes, etc. Shown on real examples, describing problems we met and solved.

My ideas:

- an eZ developer's toolbox: looking at current best-of-breed tools and extensions that make the everyday life of developers easier; discussing for needs and possible enhjacements

- load testing ezpublish: an introduction to tools and methodologies in web load testing that relate specifically to eZ

My proposal: "eZ Publish Cluster Unleashed"

- how to develop with eZ Publish Cluster: using the API, storing files with proper content-type...
- how is eZ Publish Cluster structured, and what this structure implies

Hi Ronan,

This is something we are planning on doing (at least for the live-streaming), just like we did for the eZ Winter Conference in Geneva ( http://share.ez.no/blogs/ez/ez-winter-conference-live-from-your-sofa ).

Stay tuned !

Hi Ivo,

it seems like eZ Find is getting a lot of love this year, this is great ! Your talk would be the 4th on eZ Find / Solr topics, and i think the last we'll accept (avoiding overlaps).

Were you thinking of a traditional talk, or a more tutorial-like approach ? I'd be in favor of a tutorial-like approach here if this is something you can do, which would make your talk happen on the first day.

Let us know,
Cheers,

Hi Gaetano,

Both ideas appear as excellent and useful ones to me. Would you like to take both ? Can one of them be turned into a tutorial, letting it be scheduled on the first day ?

Let us know,
Cheers !

One more suggestion:

Scalable web solutions

Use case: Regulatory reform in Vietnam on eZ Publish CMS

What are the challenges in building scalable web solutions? What parameters influence system infrastructure & architecture the most? How to build scalable system on well known open-source platforms: Apache, Mysql, Varnish, eZ Publish CMS, Solr, etc. What are the problems (and how to solve them) when doing this with eZ Publish CMS regarding amount of information, needed functionality and expected number of visitors.

ACK.

Sounds all good. Always good to have real-life return on experience with eZ Publish.

Cheers!
