I do upgrades regularly now and they are pain free and quick. First clone the GitHub repository / get the files for 6.0.6. Trust me you want the latest stabilization improvements available only in the latest release. Start a new installation and then move in your previous installation extensions, settings, design, var dir content, etc. You'll need to pay close attention to the database sql upgrades that you need before the code will work with your modified database content. I estimate even with custom extensions you could upgrade in 1 hour the core kernel + settings + database updates, this is standard to the documentation for 6.0 upgrades: https://ezpublish.doc.ezpublish.one/eZ-Publish/Upgrading/Upgrading-to-60.html I estimate that in 2 hours you could have patched any v4 -> v5 specifics in api usage in custom extensions to remain compatible and working warning free.
