Is there a way to auto import users from a LDAP catalog?. I only need to import the users so i can list/search tru them on the page. The best would be if i can keep the updated with a cronjob.

Another problem ive runned into with the LDAP login. When a user is imported/logged in im getting trouble with norwegian letters ÆØÅ. Example my name turns out PÃ¥l Messenlien after the user is imported from the LDAP catalog. Is this something that can be fixed?

The next thing is that i cant edit the user settings. Cant add signature or other information. When i try to save the user settings inside eZ i get a error that the user already exists.

Note: Im using Lotus Domino 6.5 as a LDAP source, and eZ 3.6

Anyone done a LDAP search for eZ then? What im looking for here is a way to give our site a Search for employes and students on our website. We got LDAP catalogs for both in two different servers.

Nothing yet. I'll dig around for a php LDAP search engine wich i might be able to use inside eZ.

Greetings! Did you ever resolve this issue? If so, would you mind sharing your experience?

Thanks,

Looks like you got the same enviroment AS Høgskolen i Nord-Trøndelag. We use now eZ-publish 3.6.5 on Apache 2.0.54 on a Trustix.

Employees login with their ordinary username and password, the same they use on the network.

I've configured it a way so their account in eZ is created first time they login.
Done the way by configure the ldap.ini for the actual site. I also had to do some hacks in the kernel/classes/datatypes/ezuser/ezldapuser.php so that eZ could authenticate corectly to our ldap-catalog.

By this method I don not have to create all accounts, and the employees are getting a set of standard roles in eZ.

This works fine, except one thing. First time they are thrown out and have to login once more time. (got a soution??)
Also when employees quit their account still remain in eZ.

I have seen the file ldapmanage.php in the cronjob directory but have not found out its function. Maybe its an answer in that file??

Just wanted to let you know that LDAP import and syncronization is working great for me.

Pal,
I don't use alternate character sets so I'm not sure about that part. And I also don't try to edit the user after it is created (to add the signature). But I'm sure there is a way around this.

Frode,
I also had to make some slight logic changes in the kernel and the cronjob because of the way our NDS Novell LDAP is configured.

For the cron job help, see the old documentation here (I couldn't much in the new)

Hi!

I've installed ez 3.8.3. Then I've changed the user handler in order to use LDAP. I can connect using a LDAP user without problem.
But I've the following problems:

1 - How can match user group from LDAP with those in ezpublish?

For example, I have a user called ezadmin in LDAP under a group called Admin. When I connect into ezpublish admin interface using LDAP handler, I'd like my ezadmin user from LDAP to be automatically register as administrator in ez. He is currently registered as anonymous.

2 - How can I match ezuser class attributes with LDAP attributes?
For example, how can I match the email attribute of an ez user with the email attribute of a user in LDAP?

3 - Is there anyway to transfert ezpublish users into LDAP? LDAP users into ezplublish?

PS: I hope my english is quite comprehensible.

Thanks

Hi,

I am just looking for posts about LDAP.
Perhaps this post can be interesting for you ...and me in the future :)

This is possible provided you modify a bit some php files.
Right now, I can't use the search function on ez.no so you'll have to dig in the forum but I've posted some messages on this forum about this issue. You'll find all details in those posts.
