How to install an SVN release?

I'm looking forward to the 3.2-5 release (see my posting below), but there is no "distribution package" yet, because it is not yet released?

Assuming, that a given SVN release is working at all (=the files are consistent and complete), how can one "use" a SVN release?
I know how to download the SVN files, but this usually is configured to be in "debug mode" and the install wizard does not work (is disabled in the .inis).

Can one SVN guru tell us a good way to download/upgrade SVN releases and work with them?
Should we do a full install of the latest base release (3.2-4 in this case) and download and overwrite the files in the directory with files from the SVN?
Or is there a good way to download an SVN release to an empty directory AND get it working fast and easy?

Hi,

to get a "clean copy" of your "working copy" directory ("working copy" = files / dirs inside your svn) you can use the "export" parameter of svn.

Example:
-) go to your ez dir (the main dir of the svn-version of ez)
type
svn export /your/ez/dir /the/destination/path

the "/the/destination/path" shouldn't exist (otherwise you get an error)

svn will then copy all files from your working copy to the new directory without the .svn directory. (is creating a "unversioned version")

Of course, you can use the url of the ez svn server too.

Example for windows users:

svn export http://pubsvn.ez.no/nextgen/stable/3.3/ c:\web\stable\3.3\

the dir's "web" and "stable" should be created before, the last dir "3.3" will be created by svn.

Advantage of this method: You get the latest code direct from ez.
Disadvantage: It lasts longer than exporting from your working copy.

HTH,

Kind regards,
Emil.

Best wishes,
Georg.
