Kintore is situated 530 kilometres west of Alice Springs nestled at the base of culturally important hills, Pulikatjara meaning two hills. The population is around 450 and made up of Pintubi people. The community dates back to 1981 when the Pintubi moved back from Papunya.

The community has a school, women's centre, clinic, store, art centre, airstrip - along with the council office. The clinic has a good doctor, two nurses and indigenous health workers. The store has a selection of goods.

Over the last twelve months the community has been quite stable and many changes have occured as a result. New staff has been employed and have stayed and this in itself has been very beneficial.
